A spec. commerical for Ameya Yoko, a Japanese snack crate company, specifically for Instagram.
This was a fun one to shoot. I came into this production blind as to what kind of product the video would be for and it was a perfect fit for me.
Essentially, my goal was to evoke the feeling of Japanese media without going so far as to parody it. I made sure to use floating elements, a moving patterned background and quick movements as they're all well-known tropes of Japanese media.
Being that the video is for an Instagram audience, another goal was to ensure the video loops seemlessly to keep viewers engaged for longer than the video's playtime to increase the potential click through rate.
As for inspiration, it really just came from years of watching anime and Japanese movies.
